As part of #SmallCharityWeek, we're celebrating the achievements of the young people we support.
When Ben joined a MathsMakers community programme in Year 10, he was finding maths challenging and lacked confidence in his GCSE maths skills.
Over the next two years, through regular attendance, hard work and support from our instructors, Ben made significant progress. His attendance reached 94% in the year leading up to his GCSEs, and his assessment scores improved by 22%.
Most importantly, his confidence grew.
Reflecting on his experience, Ben said:
đź’¬ "I got to learn about topics I struggled with and I learnt new easier methods to solve problems."
đź’¬ "It was really fun and did benefit me in school and helped me get higher marks on tests."
His story is a reminder that with the right support, encouragement and opportunities, young people can achieve far more than they may initially believe possible.
Thank you to our instructors, volunteers, funders, schools and community partners who help make stories like Ben's possible.
