On Tuesday this week, our Executive Director, Dr Helena Mullins, attended NCVO's Small Charity Week APPG Parliamentary Drop-in at the Houses of Parliament on behalf of MathsMakers.
The event brought together small charities and parliamentarians from across England to discuss the vital role small charities play in supporting communities and tackling disadvantage.
It was a valuable opportunity to hear about the work of organisations operating in a wide range of sectors and to reflect on the shared commitment across the charity sector to improving opportunities for those who need them most.
Helena particularly valued the opportunity to meet Baroness Jill Pitkeathley OBE and learn more about her longstanding commitment to supporting carers. This resonated strongly with MathsMakers' recent programmes for young carers, delivered in partnership with Barnet Carers and Harrow Carers.
The event also provided an opportunity to highlight the work MathsMakers does to support disadvantaged children and young people to build confidence and achieve success in maths.
We would like to thank NCVO for organising the event and bringing together charities, policymakers and sector leaders to share experiences and learn from one another.
