At MathsMakers, we see firsthand the importance of a secure foundation in maths. A recent Dyscalculia Network talk by Cat Eadle and Rob Jennings highlighted the challenges in achieving this foundation and gave a lovely visual representation 'The Jenga Effect'. This concept shows that students need a secure base of maths knowledge and skills; teachers need to be able to accurately assess their students in order to ensure that they make future maths lessons accessible, especially for those with SEND.
